Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have Spasmodic Dysphonia to join?

No.

While most members of the Let’s Attune Community live with Spasmodic Dysphonia, it’s also open to those with other functional voice disorders that have deeply affected how you communicate and express yourself.

This includes conditions such as muscle tension dysphonia, hyperadduction or hyperabduction patterns, pharyngeal constriction, ventricular phonation, conversion dysphonia, aphonia, puberphonia/mutational falsetto, or voice changes related to neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease, myasthenia gravis, or ALS.

If you’ve tried treatments like Botox, surgery, or medication, but the relief has felt temporary or incomplete — and you sense that something deeper within you is ready to shift — this space was created for you.

The Let’s Attune Community is for people who:

  • Feel their voice challenges may be connected to trauma, nervous system dysregulation, or emotional holding patterns.

  • Are ready to look within, uncovering the resilience and expression already inside them.

  • Hold hope and determination, even through difficulty.

  • Are open to going beyond traditional medical models to heal their voice at the source.

  • Are willing to trust the process and take responsibility for their own healing.

This community may not be a fit for those whose voice disorder stems from structural or physical abnormalities of the vocal folds (such as nodules, cysts, trauma, or growths), hearing impairments, or age-related voice changes.

If you’re unsure whether this describes your situation, you can fill out the short qualifying questionnaire — I’ll personally review it and follow up with care and clarity.

What happens during a Vocal Attunement session?

Each live session (held on Google Meet) blends sound, breath, and mindful awareness to support both your voice and nervous system.
We take time to notice — not force — what your voice wants to do. There’s no expectation to sound a certain way, and no pressure to perform.

You’ll be guided step by step through simple practices that help your body feel safer expressing sound. The more you attune, the more ease begins to emerge naturally — often in subtle but powerful ways.

Do I have to speak or sound in front of others?

No, never.
You’re always in full control of how you participate.
Some members simply listen and sense. Others hum, whisper, or experiment gently with sound. Every level of engagement is valid — and every expression is honored.

What matters most is that you’re connecting to your own voice, in your own way.

What if I can’t attend live?

Each session is recorded and shared privately afterward, so you can practice anytime that feels right. Many members actually love returning to the replay — they find that the voice and nervous system often open more deeply when there’s no time pressure.

Can I cancel my membership anytime?

Yes.

You can cancel whenever you need to. There’s no long-term commitment or contract. This community is meant to support your healing journey, not add pressure to it.

Do I need any special equipment or experience?

No.

Just yourself and a comfortable, private space. You don’t need a microphone, musical background, or any prior experience with voice work.Your natural curiosity and willingness to listen inwardly are all that’s required.

What if I feel nervous or self-conscious about using my voice?

That’s completely okay — and actually very common among people with SD.
You don’t have to sound “normal” or “good” here.
This is a space where your voice, exactly as it is today, is welcomed and respected.

Over time, many members notice their relationship with their voice softening — less judgment, more compassion, and sometimes, surprising moments of freedom and sound.

When do new members join?

Enrollment for Let’s Attune opens once each quarter for about a week. This allows us to begin together and create a shared sense of rhythm and connection. If the doors are currently closed, you can join the waitlist to be the first to know when the next opening arrives.
